The project is located in the area of Panorama in Thessaloniki.

In a natural paradise, in the municipality of Panorama and more specifically in the area of Platanakia, we were asked to renovate the old refreshment room, which is going to house a dining area for young and old.

inspiration, the large circular square reminiscent of the typical central square of the Greek village. A place where the most important events in Greek society take place. Where the inhabitants gather to rejoice, to celebrate, to discuss and to reflect.

The square functions as a central meeting point while the other activities are placed around it. The covered areas, the playground, the zoo, the artificial lakes and the paths in the forest are poles of attraction for young and old before and after eating.

The dining areas vary consisting of the main covered hall with fireplace, the main square with the monastery tables and the multi-level external decks enriched with table seats and low sitting areas for coffee and drinks. The outdoor kiosk, near the square, takes on the role of a classic pavilion and serves guests who do not necessarily want to sit but enjoy the playground or the zoo.

In all areas, warm materials blend harmoniously with the natural landscape. In the main hall wooden surfaces and leather chairs in natural colors and metal structures with hanging plants that act as pergolas allow together with the large fireplace to the visitor to instantly escape from the urban environment and the rhythms of everyday life and relax in a warm and welcoming space. In the central square wooden benches function as table seats for larger groups while in the decks modular table seats accommodate smaller or larger groups depending on their setting. Special emphasis has been given to the design of the playground. Certified with installations for young and old children, the playground is accompanied by a wooden deck with wooden benches that is given exclusively at children's parties.

The natural environment and the dense, tall vegetation have helped especially in shading the space. The visitor is protected from the sun in a natural environment while artificial shading has been used only in the main square.

Special emphasis has been given during the design to the lighting of the space. Internally, warm, spot lighting was chosen in order for each table to become important and unique.

Outdoors, free bulbs represent the lanterns used in the squares at celebrations and festivals. Additional floodlights, placed around the square illuminate the plane trees and reduce the richness of the natural landscape.
